The music of the Brooklyn band Peace by Piece is funk-based, peppered with samba- and zydeco-flavored soul played with exceptional artistry and musicianship. Featuring singer-songwriter Derek Bermel on keyboards and caxixi, Bobby Roe on bass and vocals, Mark Tewarson on guitar and vocals, and Mat Deveau on drums, the band's self-titled first release is filled with subtle, danceable funk ("don't panic") and hauntingly groovy hooks ("child in your eyes").
